In the Electric Mist with Confederate Dead by James Lee Burke
His bad guys are nasty, his action scenes brutally tense and his novels are gripping page turners. Mr Burke has such an amazing way with words. His can make you vividly see a rainstorm coming in from a distance, or Mockingbirds playing in a tree and even feel the cold barrel of a gun against your neck. James Lee Burke is the Grandmaster of American Crime Fiction and he proves it again with another Dave Robicheaux winner, 6th in the series. To top it off this time he has some paranormal help. I loved it. His natural dialogue style and no nonsense action makes this one of my favorite crime fiction series. Pick one up and find out why.
Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts
This is by far the best book I've ever read. Look at the reviews, there's over 1,800. I only wish I could give it ten stars. The main character, Lin goes through a moral, spiritual and emotional journey after escaping from prison in Australia, he hides in Bombay, India. The story has everything; Crime, Romance, Adventure, Friendship, War and a deep emotional peek inside India culture. I was so engaged at times that I laughed out loud and cried along the way. I've recommended Shantaram to family, friends and anyone I meet. Every person who's read it has had the same reaction and thanked me. There are so many incredible scenes that to this day this is still my favorite novel. Worth every penny... I've read it twice and I know I'll read it again to be with old friends and nasty enemies. You'll never find another novel like it.
The Killer Inside Me by Jim Thompson
Will anyone figure out who the killer is? A Sheriff from a small southern town tries to find the killer, but there's an odd twist to this novel. It's a fantastic read, with stream of consciousness from a murderer's conversations with himself. Jim Thompson has written a ton of gritty crime fiction including: The Getaway and The Grifters.

I just finished The Hunter by Richard Stark. This is the first Parker novel and what a great ride it was. Parker gets out of jail with nothing but revenge on his mind. He's an emotionless thug with payback on his mind. He storms in and climbs up the ladder wrecking the organization to get his money back. Like a freight train he doesn't stop until he get what he wants. I had a good time following Parker as he beat down bad guys all over town. Check it out you'll like it. #crime #fiction #thriller #mystery #suspense #action
The Hunter: A Parker Novel (Parker Novels)
End of Watch was just released on Netflix streaming service. This Police crime fiction drama seemed so real at times you might forget its a movie. It stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña and the character development is extremely well done. While on patrol they start running into a Latin gangs that are connected to a Latin drug cartel. The more they trip over gang's activities the deeper they get. Nasty gang bangers and unexpected horrors fill this documentary style film. #crime #fiction #thriller #movies #police #action #film #crimefiction #Mystery
I recently read Two-Way Split by Allan Guthrie and thoroughly enjoyed it. The character development sucked me into his gritty writing style. A post office robbery leads to exciting interaction with some shady folks. More than a handful of twists and surprises as the plot unfolds in this awesome page turner. #crime #fiction #mystery #thriller #suspense
An interview with John Connolly on the Charlie Parker series. John talks about selective use of violence as a writer becomes more seasoned. He also discusses the plot of his new novel Burning Soul.
