This is by far the best book I've ever read. Look at the reviews, there's over 1,800. I only wish I could give it ten stars. The main character, Lin goes through a moral, spiritual and emotional journey after escaping from prison in Australia, he hides in Bombay, India. The story has everything; Crime, Romance, Adventure, Friendship, War and a deep emotional peek inside India culture. I was so engaged at times that I laughed out loud and cried along the way. I've recommended Shantaram to family, friends and anyone I meet. Every person who's read it has had the same reaction and thanked me. There are so many incredible scenes that to this day this is still my favorite novel. Worth every penny... I've read it twice and I know I'll read it again to be with old friends and nasty enemies. You'll never find another novel like it.

As proudly reported in Scottish Life magazine, a British think tank called the New Economics Foundation recently determined that the Scots are the happiest people in Britain, boasting some of the most impressive "wellbeing" scores anywhere. Exactly why this is, no one seems sure. Does Scotland's rugged natural beauty make people feel better, as the magazine suggested? Is it the sound of the bagpipes? The freedom men experience wearing skirts? This piece first...
Via Chicago Tribune On the night of the Crime Writers' Association 60th birthday, they are to reveal the hotly anticipated results of the CWA poll to find the greatest crime writer, crime series and crime novel. Foyles, Charing Cross Road, London, Tuesday 5th November 2013, 6:30pm - 7:30pm Tickets: Free to CWA members; non-members £5.00/£3.00 concessions. #crimefiction There has been one enormous difference for me between writing my latest novel, The Cruellest Game, and any of my previous books. This time I thoroughly enjoyed almost every minute of the writing process. I have made a living out of writing of some sort since I was 17 years old, initially as a journalist and occasionally producing non fiction books. Considering myself to be very much a professional scribe I've always before been puzzled if anyone asked me if I enjoyed writing. It was work wasn't it? My job. I did it for a living. #crimefiction #thriller #suspense |
