Crime fiction in South Central California

7/9/2013

End of Watch was just released on Netflix streaming service.  This Police crime fiction drama seemed so real at times you might forget its a movie. It stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña and the character development is extremely well done. While on patrol they start running into a Latin gangs that are connected to a Latin drug cartel. The more they trip over gang's activities the deeper they get. Nasty gang bangers and unexpected horrors fill this documentary style film. #crime #fiction #thriller #movies #police #action #film #crimefiction #Mystery

Crime fiction TV at it's best

If you haven't watch the show Breaking Bad (pilot preview) now is the time. The last season is out this summer and you have lots of catching up to do. Its jaw dropping crime fiction about a high school chemistry teacher who starts making and distributing Crystal Meth to pay for his lung cancer treatment. His partner Jesse Pinkman is one of his students who lead the selling and gets them involved with super nasty bad guys. The writing is awesome and it always keeps you guessing as the main character Walter White switches from self doubt to criminal mastermind.

Crime fiction food that's real

Did you ever notice the food that mobsters eat in movies? Spaghetti and meatballs, a little or a lot of red wine and a big salad. Well maybe not the salad, I added that part. It makes the marinara take so much better, must be the dressing. Anyway there's a place I go whenever I have a chance to reward myself after an interview or business meeting, it's Carmine's on 44th in NYC. It's kinda like being in The Godfather. Old family pictures on the walls going back generations. I always imagine old ghosts are watching and I toast to their happiness wherever they are. I love this place check it out and I promise you won't be sorry.

Early crime fiction lover

The movie that had the biggest impact on my life was the Godfather. My parents took me to see it and it is still the best crime drama I have ever seen. The personal connections, loyalty, strength and honor made the Corleone family the anti-heroes. Even though they murdered people who got in the way of their business I enjoyed their victories and was saddened by their loses. They were the best if the bad guys. If I could only take one movie with me to a desert island The Godfather wins hands down.
